BIO - Part 1 - My
personal journey from math teacher to Integrated
Kabbalistic Healer
My spiritual journey was deeply
imbedded in my 26-year teaching career without my
realizing it at the time. I have learned about the
relationship between teaching math and healing through
the answers of students to a question on an annual
end-of-year evaluation (which I created only in the last
few years of my career). The question was: What did you
learn about yourself this year in math class? The most
frequent response was: ‘ I learned that I can do
anything if I have a good teacher, if I pay
attention, and if I work hard.’ Although on a deeper
level math is about creation and problem solving, on a
personal level it seems to be about removing false
barriers and false perceptions of self to make room for
this truth: ‘I can do anything. . . .’ The
students and I were solving math problems but we were
also working on an interpersonal level to build
confidence and to change how they viewed themselves and
their accomplishments.
In 1986 I began
a more personal spiritual journey in the lab of my
photography class when an unexpected image appeared on
my photo paper in the developing tray. I had
unknowingly taken a picture of a ghost at Aquia Church.
After telling the story to a friend in the lab, she
began educating me about ghosts and then introduced me
to meditation and the concept of energy healing. The
journey became deeper in 1990 when I attended my first
of 13 seminars with Peter Ragner, a spiritual master and
author, in Gatlinburg, TN. Peter’s teachings turned my
perceptions of life in dramatic new directions. I began
to see the limitless possibilities of creating the life
I really wanted.
In 1994 when I
became unhappy with my work situation as a 7th
grade math teacher, I took time off to study meditation,
which brought wonderful changes into my life. I was
able to be more at peace with myself, to be more
creative in my teaching, and more compassionate with the
people in my life. I became a meditation teacher.
My work with
healing began in 1997 when, after becoming a Reiki
Master, I left my career as a math teacher, against the
advice of many, to pursue my interests in Reiki and
meditation. I studied Kabbalah and began personal,
on-going work with an Integrated Kabbalistic Healing healer.
In 2004 I
graduated from ASOS 3-year training in Integrated
Kabbalistic Healing and in 2005
completed the graduate year, all with creator of
Integrated Kabbalistic Healing,
Jason Shulman, well-known spiritual teacher and author
of the book, Kabbalistic Healing. My 4 years of
work with Integrated Kabbalistic Healing have enabled me to spend less time living
in my historic, psychological patterns, to live more
open-heartedly in the present moment, and to respond to
life more often from a place of wholeness.
I
find that each aspect of my work [Integrated Kabbalistic
Healing, Reiki,
meditation, manifesting, and math tutoring] offers the
possibility of profound life-changes in clients and in
myself. As a client and I work together in
relationship, we gain insight, presence, and truth about
ourselves, which result in healing and aliveness.
