BENEFITS
OF TUTORING
The student has a place to learn
in a one-on-one, quiet setting.
Students create their own intentions
for success.
Questions can be asked that are
not addressed in class.
Students learn how they learn – left
or right brain and how to use the
whole brain.
Instructional materials are provided,
(written by me, sometimes with student
input), which include clear directions
for problems such as triangle
trigonometry, special right triangles,
fractions, etc.
Strategies are taught for working
difficult-to-understand story
problems.
Students learn how to make good use of
their text to:
Learn
from examples in the text
Find
useful information
Study for a test
Personal test taking strategies
are analyzed so that the students can:
Improve
their test taking ability and test
scores
Improve
their speed
Students learn how to perform
successfully on tests without anxiety,
anger, or over-thinking.
Review of basic skills helps to
fill in gaps in learning and improve
speed: fractions, integers, square
roots, multiplication facts, factoring,
solving equations, etc.
For the purpose of increasing personal
speed, independence from
CALCULATOR use is encouraged for simple
calculations including fractions and
integers.
Essential calculator skills are
emphasized for functions such as
graphing, matrices, and tables for which
CALCULATORS are efficient and
time-saving. |
