TUTOR
SUBJECTS SETTING
I
offer one of the most comprehensive and
personal tutoring experiences a student
can receive.
I
work with one student per session in my
kitchen in a setting that is quiet and
without distraction.
The
tutoring environment is complete with
math books, study sheets,
hands-on
learning tools such as
flash cards, fraction cubes, geometric
solids, compasses.
Areas
of focus
-
development of
confidence and clarity in
working math problems
-
study skills
and organizational skills
-
free study sheets
Study sheets are provided which clarify steps for
working particular types of problems and
to help
students remember how to work the
problems. Students save these sheets
and use them in higher math classes.
Individual test taking skills are analyzed to create
awareness which allows the student to
demonstrate on a test what he has actually
learned.
-
integration of left
and right brain
The student learns how he learns, which side of his
brain is dominant, and how to
incorporate the strengths of the other
side of the brain.
Instruction
includes:
-
pre-algebra
-
algebra I
-
algebra II
-
algebra III/trig.
-
geometry
-
elementary and middle
school math
-
preparation for
college placement tests
-
preparation for
military tests:
ASOQT, AFCT, ASVAB, ASTP
-
SAT
& GED preparation
Private tutoring has been
my work for the last 14 years.
Previous experience
includes 26 years teaching in the public schools
in Colorado, Indiana, Ohio, and
Virginia.
References are available from parents
and students.
Many students have studied with
me for 6 or more consecutive years.
Families often send 2 or 3
children over a period of several years.
